Private Academic Classes for Children Who Need More Than a Classroom Can Offer
Firefly Ed is a personalised academic support service for children ages 3–14. In-person and online.
When School Moves Too Fast

In the early years, gaps appear in reading, writing, phonetics, and basic numeracy. These skills are expected to develop quickly, and many children need more structured reinforcement than a classroom can provide.
By middle school, academic pressure increases sharply. Concepts become more abstract, workloads grow, and expectations around independent learning rise. Children who have gaps — or who learn at a different pace — begin to struggle.
What parents commonly notice:
- Weak foundations in early literacy or numeracy
- Difficulty keeping up with faster-paced lessons
- Confusion as subjects become more complex
- Declining confidence and motivation
Firefly Ed works with children at both these stages.
How Firefly Ed Works

Classes are structured, paced to the individual child, and closely aligned with school learning. Each child’s level of understanding shapes how lessons are sequenced and delivered.
- Foundational skills in reading, writing, phonetics, and comprehension for younger children
- Curriculum-aligned academic support and concept reinforcement for older students
- Lesson pace adjusted to each child’s learning speed
- Visual and audio tools to improve clarity and retention
- Custom worksheets and learning material created in-house
Classes are available in-person and online. Online lessons follow the same curriculum and materials as in-person sessions.

About Prerna

Prerna is an educator with over 15 years of classroom teaching experience. She founded Firefly Ed to work closely with children and families in a focused setting, outside the constraints of a traditional school system.
Her teaching is shaped by how each child thinks, communicates, and engages — not just what the syllabus requires.
Firefly Ed is supported by Prerna’s mother, a senior educator with more than 40 years of teaching experience across ages 3–18.
Workshops
Workshops are integrated into the overall learning framework — structured opportunities for children to apply and extend what they learn. Offered periodically for ages 3–14, with select programmes such as theatre open to ages up to 18.
